Extruded Curves is a digitally generated sculpture, modeled in 3D software and realized on a CNC milling machine. The organic shape retains the fine surface striations left by the milling tools, leaving the object a hybrid: a meshing of natural and machine processes. The sculpture was finished by hand using gauche and high gloss fixatives, highlighting the relationship of the chitinous form and the designed object. (Approximately 12”x 1”x 4”.
