Kazzab is a collaboration with Sheldon Kessel (Octathorpe), and harsh/blackened noise artist Ron DeFries (Indian). Influenced by Big Beat, Drum&Bass, and Harsh Noise Art the output is a focused sonic disturbance which both embraces and seeks to defy the boundaries of music and noise. Navigating a machine-based brutalist structure, Kazzab’s music is initially composed as sample-based, utilizing content ranging from instruments and voices, raw synthesis and tone generation, field-recordings, to laboriously sourced captures from any number of musical catalogues and genres. Chaotic shifts and breaks in tempo, distorted walls of synths and guitars, stabs and break-beats, stemming from a wide range of sources and performances are all raw materials for reconstitution.
